# VerifiedHuman for musicians

A melody, a rhythm, or an unexpected turn in a song comes from creative choices. The VerifiedHuman mark identifies your commitment to human composition, so listeners who value those choices can find your music. Start with the [Standard for Musicians](https://verifiedhuman.info/musicians) and its [definitions](https://verifiedhuman.info/definitions-for-musicians).

## Your commitment

> I represent my musical work to be my (or my team's) intellectual property, essentially composed by (a) human(s), and not by generative AI.

The central question is: Who composed it?

## Composition and production

The standard concerns who selected and arranged the essential notes, sounds, and beats. Recording, mixing, mastering, pitch correction, and other tools can support human composition.

A mark on a composition does not automatically certify every performance or sound in a recording. Explain what people performed and what tools generated or changed.

## Working with generated music

At VH3, AI-generated melodies, rhythms, or loops need substantial transformation. Selecting a sequence and making small adjustments is not enough.

The Five-Note/Five-Beat Principle helps you notice recognizable sequences carried into the work unchanged. Five is a gut-check, not a percentage test. Read the [full guidance](https://verifiedhuman.info/definitions-for-musicians#five-note-five-beat-principle) when judging a passage.

## Make the credits useful

Name the human composers and performers. Explain significant AI use in credits, release notes, a description, or a linked process page. Metadata can support that account, but should not be its only home.

Use AIU (AI-Unknown) when source material has an unclear human or AI origin. The work must still meet the composition standard.
