Understanding VerifiedHuman

Different questions. Different kinds of trust.

VerifiedHuman asks creators to stand behind a standard. It does not score a file for signs of AI.

What detection tries to tell you.

An AI detector analyzes a piece of content and estimates whether it was generated by AI. Its result is an inference from the content it can examine. VerifiedHuman does not operate a detector or issue a probability score.

What the VerifiedHuman mark tells you.

The creator has committed to the standard for their field and is applying that commitment to the labeled work. The standard describes the essential human contribution and the boundaries of permitted AI assistance. The creator remains responsible for the claim.

Why the creative process matters.

A finished file may not explain how it came into being. A disclosed translation of a human-written original is a different case from an AI-generated draft. A human vocal performance with technical processing is different from a synthetic voice. Those distinctions require an account of the process, not just a label on the tool.

Where provenance fits.

Provenance systems can record information about a file’s origin and editing history. VerifiedHuman is a Contributor Member of C2PA, which develops standards for that purpose. Provenance, creator commitments, and an audience’s judgment can inform one another without making identical claims.

Choose the right basis for the claim.

Do not describe the VerifiedHuman mark as a detection result or forensic guarantee. Use it to make your commitment clear, and explain material AI assistance where your audience can find it. The brand guide includes practical disclosure language.

Make your commitment.

Read the standard for your field, then put your name behind it.
